Waterwise Recount

The sky was coloured with blue on Monday 10 February. Not a dark cloud in sight. Room 6d went on the Waka Van to go to Howick beach for our first water wise session. The golden sand sparkled in the glazing sun.The smell o salty water and fresh green grass filled the air. I could feel the soft wind zooming through my body. The sound of small waves crashing onto the sand vibrated my eardrums. most importantly, I can taste the great day ahead of us.

As I looked around, amazed by the beautiful scenery. Flying seagulls whizzed through the air like lightning. Suddenly a terrible scream interrupted my awesome dream."On the grass everyone!"It was Mr Nicholls. Hearing him talk was kind of scary." Life jackets on." he continued. Strolling to the grass, I put on my heavy life jacket. It smelled like a horse stable with a horse that needs some grooming. The life jacket almost suffocated me as I tried to make it loose. My leg tickled because of all the long green grass taking over my legs. Mr Nicholls talked about the names of an optimist. The bungee rope is used so the centerboard wouldn't scrape on the ground. He also talked about safety which is important.

After what seemed like hours, we learnt to tie 3 kinds of knots. The fisrt knot was called he figure of 8 which liked like n 8. We use it for tieing the main sheet when it goes through the lashings. The second knot was called the double loop and 2 halve hitches. You loop around the thing twice and tie the shoe lace knot twice. We use it to tie it to the boom so the flag stays in place. The third knot is called the bowline. You end up with a loop and a line. The loop stays in place so you can' move it.After that, we split into groups and each had a sail boat We had to put the metal sprit pole through the flag to keep it up. Then we put the rudder in the guengons and picles. Soon we put in the centerboard the bungee rope around it. Then we put a blue rope through a loop and into a grip thing that lock the rope. Then we were done.. The rudder is to steer the boat. Later we used the double loop and 2 halve hitches to to the mainsheet onto the boom and through the pulleys. On the end we put 2 figure o 8 knots. Soon we put in the centerboard and the bungee rope around it. Then we put a blue rope through a loop and into a grip thing that ocks rope rope. Then we were done.

It was a great day to go out. I decided to have a quick swim at the end. My favorite part was the swim. I learnt how to set up a sailboat and the names of it.

Fractured Fairy Tale

Once upon a time there lived a giant and his wife. They lived in a stone castle that floated on a fluffy white cloud in the sky. After a tiring day of work at the giant log factory slumped on tt bed and slept. While he slept, a boy named Jack somehow entered his castle. He wore baggy brown shorts and a torn shirt was hungry so he kindly asked the giants wife for food.Sh gave him bread and milk. When jack finished, he found a sack of precious gold.his eyes went wide and eagerly took the gold.

When the giant woke up he saw that his gold was gone. A smell entered his nose. "Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum. I smell the blood of an englishman. Be he alive or b he dead. I'll grind his bone to make my bread" He roared.

"There's no man in here." his wife said The giant searched the castle but Jack had already escaped. The giant gave up and slept.

Once again. Jack came and asked for some food. The giants wife was very kind and gave him bread and milk again. Jack explored until he discovered a hen which lays golden eggs. "I must have that," he thought. He quietly took the hen and wn out for the door. And thats when he heard the giants works:"Fe-Fi-Fo-Fum. I smell the blood of an englishman. Be he alive or be he dead. i'll grind his bones to make my bread.

"There's no boy in here," the mother replied. This time he giant was more cautious. He would wake up once in a while to check if there was anyone here.

For a third time Jack came and looked for treasure. For a third time he asked for bread and milk. For a third time he stole something- a golden harp. But Jack didn't know that the golden harp could talk."Master, master, help me!!!"

The harp screamed. For one time the giant actually SAW Jack run for the door. As soon as Jack heard the giant's thundering footsteps, he flew out the door and started tumbling down. When the giant peeked down from the cloud, he could just see Jack with something that looks like an axe. Wait. It is an axe! Jack began chopping the beanstalk that reached up to his cloud. The giant couldn't wait. He had to do this. So he took his opportunity and jumped.

The giants body zoomed through the air. He squashed the boy with a big Splat! But because of his overweight body, it cracked the Earth and exploded. And everybody lived unhappily ever after.
